Thumbs up writing to file in a particular position

How can I write to a file in a specific position. I have tried using seek but it dosen't seem to be working. basically I want to open a file in append mode and then write the content to a specific position and not at the end of the file. Please lemme know if this is feasible.

You are aware the seek() works with positions in bytes and not lines or characters ?

Where abouts are you wishing to append to the file ? The start of the file ?
