Tutorial for creating simple online cp

Hey there,

Does anybody know of a tutorial somewhere, that gives some basic instruction on how to go about creating a online control panel? When i say control panel, i mean like a web hosting one, like Cpanel, ensim, plesk, helm, etc.. but no where near the complexity of those, just a real basic one. You know, features like, actually autocreating the account, creating a plan (with disk space, transfer, enabling cgi, php), viewing how much disk space and transfer one user has used, etc...

Anyway, I think you get what I'm looking for. Remember, I don't want a script that does this, I want a tutorial that instructs you on how to go about making one. I have looked at google, hotscripts and other places, but for the life of me cannot find anything that will help.

This kind of thing is far too indepth to have a simple tutorial on. You would need to look up how to do each part individually (e.g. disk space, bandwidth, etc), then adapt the invididual scripts to form part of a single control panel.

Not really.. It's not a common everyday thing.. if it was a guestbook or something simple, there'd be mountains of stuff on it, but control panels are a different matter.. If you're writing such a thing it's generally accepted you have your own ideas of how to structure it and as such don't need much of a guide..

My suggestion is to look at a product called Webmin.. It's a basic no-frills control panel, it's free, and it works... look at how it's structured and what functionality it offers.. should give you a bit of direction..
