Job 1:
Ping Script
When a user comes on my site, I want a button that says start. When they click this start button, I want my servers to come back with a ping reply to this person then give an output with the best ping time.
For example:
You ping best to our Dallas, TX location with a ping of 28ms.
Here are your pings from our other locations
Los Angles, CA: 59ms
Atlanta, GA: 86ms
New York, NY: 76ms
McLean, VA: 77ms
The servers will read froma config file. Each server will need a name (location) and the ip, or an admin page (not pw protected or anything) just a hard url such as ping.php?=admin87248284243322 etc.
The server side script can be a perl deamon or written in php, up to you.
Job 2:
Server Status script:
For admins of my company, this script will give a status of all our machines such as uptime, bw usage, cpu usage, ram usage, etc. If any of them go over x amount it will dispatch an email warning (server x is using 98% cpu). These settings will be configurable in an admin panel.
Out put would look something like this.
East:
NJ1.XGamingZone.net - Status: Online - Uptime: 47 Days - CPU Usage 6% (1 CPU) (View History) - Ping - TraceRoute
NJ2.XGamingZone.net - Status: Online - Uptime: 12 Days - CPU Usage 72% (1 CPU) (View History) - Ping - TraceRoute
Central:
Central1.XGamingZone.net - Status: Online - Uptime: 102 Days - CPU Usage 38% (2 CPU's) (View History) - Ping - TraceRoute
DBT.XGamingZone.net - Status: Online - Uptime: 6 Days - CPU Usage 71% (2 CPU's) (View History) - Ping - TraceRoute
TXM.XGamingZone.net - Status: Online - Uptime: 2 Days - CPU Usage 75% (2 CPU's) (View History) - Ping - TraceRoute
Webhosting.XGamingZone.net - Status: Online - Uptime: 102 Days - CPU Usage 7% (2 CPU's) (View History) - Ping - TraceRoute
West:
West1.XGamingZone.net - Status: Online - Uptime: 4 Days - CPU Usage 48% (2 CPU's) (View History) - Ping - TraceRoute
The view history would link to our mrtg graphs we have installed on the machines.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Please contact if interested.
