How to set usr/pswd for localhost phpMyAdmin

Hello,
For some reason I can't find the answer to this one. First off, just to let you know, I'm a certified newbie with PHP.
Here's my question, I've set up phpMyAdmin on my local computer for database use. However, when I go to http://localhost/theFolder/phpMyAdmin/ -- it asks for a username and password.

Where do I find this info or set new info? I went in to the config.inc.php file to try and change this info but I can't get it to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your time.

Regards,

Justin

phpMyAdmin only allows you to connect to an existing mySQL database, it isn't creating that one for you. If you already have mySQL installed, the defaults often are root and no password.

From the look of it, you should get AppServ, which installs all the things required automaticly for you (mySQL, PHP, phpMyAdmin ...) Make a Google search if you're interresting.
