Hello All,
I am new to PHP, and I am trying to build an online directory for an organization that is formed from several companies all over the state of Tennessee. I want the visitors to be able to do a search by county and/or city to find what companies are in that area. If you go to napps.com you will see what I’m looking for, I don’t care about the distance zip code search, what I’m really looking for is the search you see on the left side of that site. I wouldn’t mind a distance zip code search but I’m sure that cost more money and/or would be too hard for me to do my self. Alls I’m looking for is something that is easy for the visitors to get a list of the companies in the area they are looking for. I don’t care if the search results just show a link to a page for each company or the search results have all the info needed like you see at napps.com. I would prefer it to be MySQL/PHP, but if it is easier to go with something else that’s fine because we can switch hosting services if needed. Is there a program or something that would make this easy for me to do???

Something like this would be very easy to do using PHP/mySQL or PHP/openLDAP. I would imagine that it would consist of 2 parts. The first being a script to add/remove/modify companies in the DB and the second to search the db. Good luck!
