Advanced PHP Programming

Anyone in here owns the book Advanced PHP Programming by George Schlossnagle? Or probably have heard about it? I'm planning to get the book but I need to know what really is in it and was the author good enough to explain things. I've seen reviews from amazon but I want to know what the members of this forum says about it. Book reviews please..

hello wizkid,
this book is highly recommended if you want to know more about php core. It would discover the secret behind zvm, php extensions, cross compilation, porting your application to php extension, and much more (don't forget to prepare your C to advanced level). george is one of php core development team. he has written several php extensions, so you shouldn't worry about his skill. to know more about him and his work, you can click this link.

Thanks mikaelf..
I've been developing PHP in the Windows platform. I'm afraid the book might be talking about PHP on a non-Windows platform that would be useless to me unless I shift to another platform. Any suggestions/comments??

PHP Is cross compatible...

With Windows, its not as strict, in Linux, you have to make sure to follow case sensitivity.

Yup, the advanced actually like a blog in a book. George describe he's experience managing high profile website, managing CVS, unit testing, design pattern, clustering.

If you just want to know Object Oriented focus, this book is not for you, but if you want to know how to build a good software that can scalable , this book is for you..
