I am trying to make a site...it will be a collection of links w/ some descriptions. I want each page of the site to have maybe 10 or so links, and when I add a new link the bottom one should move to the next page. I want the layout to be something like (I hate to use this an example but) www.big-boys.com
Is there a good tutorial someone could suggest please, or any other help or advice is appreciated, thanks

You see, this is quite a difficult to suggest something that would cover such a wide topic. You should start with learning basics of MySQL (if you use it) to see how to paginate result sets, and the basics of PHP to figure out how to program with it.

I would suggest you to firstly learn HTML and Javascript and then take off with PHP and MySQL. Learning all this takes around 1 month for an average learner.
For designing you need to learn Photoshop and Flash.
