Looking for script...

Hey everyone,

I need a PHP script (w/ or w/o MYSQL backend) to do the following:

- Post articles (with several spanning pages)
- Allow people to add comments
- Have user registration built-in for the comments
- Allow authors to upload images to use in stories
- Build static or PHP pages with the stories
- Stories should be one page per article (not all on the homepage)

I've found PostNuke, PHPNuke - and these scripts don't have what I want (too much extras). I'm trying to avoid ezPublish, b/c my server cannot handle the script.

Any other ideas?

Have you thought about trying to build something yourself?

If you want to keep it simple, its probably pretty easy using an mySQL back end.

Then again, what about just installing PHP Nuke and removing the options you dont need?

I'd steer clear of the Nuke branches, because they're indeed a bit too big for what you want, and additionally, some of the branches are not that secure either.

ezPublish is also way too big for what you want.

You might want to try something like mamboserver which is still in development and I think it does what you want (not sure though, been a while since I last checked their site). or maybe phpWebsite or something like that.

I don't that script is going to work...

Too much like Nuke, where it's module based.

I really want to find a script that is designed for news publishing / and or content management.

Mambo is good, except when I tried to visit their site the server was down.

there are 1000 hehe well maby not 1000 but there are scripts on HS its self, and what flipsix said would be better just try creating a VERY simple script, and then you can slowly make it better, untill you think its prefect

Thanks.

Does anyone know what product techtv.com uses to power their backend? That's like what I want to emulate...

Nah don't re-invent the wheel. There are hundreds of scripts like what you want, did you check the listings on this site?
