Hi Fellow Programmers,

I've decided to take MySQL on, due to its popularity and great power i want to experience its benefits... not to mention its FREE . I've just recently studied MySQL, however i studied MySQL only using the MySQL monitor. I'm trying to create a database driven website, and i've chosen to use Coldfusion to interact with the MySQL database i am still yet to create. I know of a few GUI's that are available out there with a nice face that enables users to create MySQL databases without having to do a lot of hard coding. What do you guys recommend is the best MySQL GUI to use?

I know there are lots of personal preferences and everyone has different tastes - but for a novice MySQL user, which GUI would be great to use?

Well, if you'd get up to speed on what the best web-based language is (PHP), then you'd check out phpMyAdmin. Just kiddin'

As a seasoned PHP developer, I've had tremendous success and headache relief with phpMyAdmin. I'm not sure if there's any better GUI to communicate with MySQL.

I know about phpMyAdmin, thing is i have no experience with it and since i'm new to the whole idea of database driven websites, it's a little difficult to jump right into using phpMyAdmin. I am still yet to learn PHP, unfortunately that wasn't included in my course. For now, Coldfusion can handle what i want done. PHP doesn't look all that easy to learn for starters, i've taken a look at PHP code as well as read up on it a bit and it isn't the easiest of web languages to learn.

Besides all that, do you know of any websites you perhaps used in the past to learn how to use phpmyadmin? I ran a google search for phpmyadmin tutorials, i've found a few i'm going to go through - i just want to know if maybe there is or was a website you used that helped you learn how to use phpmyadmin effectively.... basically to save me the hastle of finding a great resource.
