Converting mySQL datetime into something readable (with PHP)

im looking at http://php.mirrors.ilisys.com.au/man....strtotime.php ... don't seem to understand. Anyway ...

I'm trying to get dates in datetime format into something readable. Specifically, I would like it to convert from this:

2003-10-19 21:00:00 EST

to this:

Sunday, Oct. 19th 2003 @ 9:00 PM EST

So the format...
YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS EST
in mySQL datetime, to convert to
dayOfWeek, monthAbbreviation. DD(superscript) YYYY @ H:MM AM/PM EST

Heh, that was a little longwinded at the end
