Needed to use a oracle connect string in php script.

Hi,
I am very new to php and mysql.I recently made a php oci8 extn to be enabled with a lot of difficulty.If someone knows how to make sure php and oracle 10g are talking please help me find out.I have written a php script which should save the information onto oracle but it gives an error.
If anyone can help me, i will appreciate a lot.
