Question I need like a... global timer?

Hey everyone, I just signed up since I'm gettin in the "php world"... It's one of the languages I like the most so far .

so am... going to what this post is for... Am... I need to make a kind of global timer... sounds more like an application, like making the website every 2 minutes check sth, change a text, whatever (i know i know, all server side )... just execute a code... every X amount of time. I checked out the regular timers, which were all I could found, but those are created and ended in same page and executed by users by entering to pages... I think u know what I mean, like in web-based games your sources go up, or ur stamina regains again... like in such games . Anyone knows how to do it or have a link to such code? (or I need other language?? :|), i really dunno how to look for it xD. Thx ppl cya!
