popping up the security box when accessing a php script

Hello all...
I'm terrible new to PHP so have a little patience please with me.
I'm running IIS5 server on Win2K with frontpage asp serverextensions enabled and installed recently php4.
whenever i access a page in php on the website(s) running on the server, an authentication box popsup and only the administrator's name and pass seems to give access to the php script.
On the harddisk i changed security on the map containing the PHP executables to give IIUSR_ access to read and write in the dir.
i can't figure out what's the problem with php.
tnx in advance.
Andre.
