Php safe mode restrictions & php scripts

I have found an excellent script. A php file manager that does it all and it is only one file!
Here it is:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/phpfm/

No specific configuration needed. Just upload it and it should play.

I put it locally in my pc and worked without problems.

I upload it to my hosting servers and it cannot upload, delete, rename, files.
So I contacted them and they told me it is about php's safe mode.
They cannot turn it off because of security reasons.
I explained them that I will put the script in a folder locked by htaccess file but they refuse to turn off safe mode.

The question is: what should I do?
I hate their file manager inside their controlpanel.
I want a better one that suits my needs and this one is perfect.

Is there something I can do? Bypassing these restrictions?

If any hosting server had these restrictions then nobody would ever be able to use scripts like 'file managers', 'upload systems' etc. They would be useless for the majority of web designers.

So, I think that it should be a solution.

Please help me solve the problem.

hi m8

you could look into .htaccess files to see if you can change this from there but i dout it very much.

Also with file uploading there are more hurdles to jump depending on the files being uploaded

FILE_UPLOADS

POST_MAX_SIZE

UPLOAD_MAX_FILESIZE

MAX_INPUT_TIME

these all play a vital role in file uploads

Hope this helps
