Wordpress PHP problem...

Hi All,

I hope this is the right place to post.

I know zilch about PHP, but know that you guys know plenty. And I'm in need of help.

I have a Wordpress site I'd love to take live, however... the one problem with the template I'm using (which is great in many other ways) is that it entices you to create "custom quicklinks" which subsequently cannot be deleted.

Short of giving you access to my Wordpress dashboard, I don't know how to let you see behind the scenes for what's happening. And the site itself isn't ready yet to go public, so I'm hesitant to list it here.

But what I'm wondering is...

I see that there's a page in Wordpress where .php files for a Theme can be edited. And it's here where I think the problem might be. Or perhaps on the "Theme options" page. I realize this isn't a lot to go on. But I've tried reaching the template designer and can't get a response.

Meanwhile, I've invested a lot of time in making this happen using the template chosen. Too much to start all over again.

if someone here might be able to help me (or at least redirect me), what info would you need from me? Is there some kind of small fee we could work out to fix the problem? I think the page itself needs to be edited at the PHP level and reloaded, but I'm not technologically proficient enough to be sure.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

JF

I'd strongly suggest trying the Wordpress forums for help first, as they would seem to be the logical place for Wordpress info, especially modifications of this sort.

If that's not an option, remove or disable the quicklinks button or function. There are a million ways to do this- if you have to, remove the page it calls of cripple the function that runs.

Figured it out...

Hey...

Thanks much for the replies.

re: WPress forums... I tried 'em first, but got no replies (not one). But I did finally get one from the forum on the website of the developer (another user with the same problem) and we figured it out.

Summary of the solution: I had to go into the database using phpmyadmin, find the wp_options.php file and search it for the name of the theme... then replace the quicklinks I'd entered with an "N"... carefully so as not to disrupt the punctuation of the coding.

After saving that and backing out, it worked. No more problem.

Still, I'm a complete newbie to that kind of stuff. Didn't have a clue what I was doing. Anyway, now it works... thanks again.
