Question How do I alter exsiting Tables Mysql databases?

How do I alter existing databases in phpMyAdmin? What I am attempting to do exactly is add fields to an existing table. This is so that, I can merge usernames with another script I have so users won't have to re-register.

For an example;

Database: Names
Table: Fred
Fields: Age, Gender, Race

I would like to add more fields. Here is a visual to give you an understanding of what I am talking about:

I would look like to know step by step what to do. Explain as if you were talking to a child almost in baby steps. I need to know syntax and everything. Mysql or phpmyadmin for dummies.
Thank you.

See where it says "Add [1] field(s) at", right below "Print view"?

Right after that are several choices: "At end of table", "At beginning of table", and "After [List of fields]". Select the one that you want to use, then click the "GO" button.

If you click the "GO" button without doing anything else, it'll start to add 1 field to the end of the table column list by default. After you click the button you'll have the opportunity to fill in the field name, column type, etc etc.

Really, that's all there is to it.
