There are literally thousands of books on PHP available out there. Each one is different. Spend some time in a book store to figure out which one is best for you.

As for suggesting another forum, why would we, the users of programmingtalk.com, want to send you somewhere else?

I am also somewhat new to this stuff, and I found a book at one of the Linux sites here on the internet which has been EXCELLENT!!!!

"Apache, MySQL, and PHP WEEKEND CRASH COURSE" - Steven M. Schafer - Wiley Publishing (www.wiley.com).

I initially used it to understand the 3 products and how they all interact. I now use it daily as a reference manual. It's about $25, and they will ship it in a couple of days. If you are interested, let me know, and I get you the name of the company I ordered it from.
