Portal Systems

I am thinking about a portal to create a website. Though, im having problems in finding good ones and choosing them. Can someone suggest a couple? (I already know about php-nuke and vbb portal)

Also, in portals is it possible to make your own pages?

Some like Portal Systems because everything is already there.

To answer your question, "Also, in portals is it possible to make your own pages?"

Yes, There is an admin section which allows you to add / modify / delete new pages.

About suggesting a new one. There are so many different systems out there it would be best to use your best choice. Just search for Portal Systems.

I am looking at vbPortal. A friend has a legal licence i can use, so there is no problem there. But is there any FREE skins for it? Because all I see so far are the ones that you have to pay $20 to become a premium member. Also, is there any hacks avaliable?

This is why vbulletin sucks (wel at least one reason). First you pay for the product, then if you want any addons you have to fork out even more money even if they dont add much to the script!

Its b-shite perhaps you should stick with a bulletin board that has free addons!

Just like to comment on vbportal. That is the biggest pice of crap I have ever seen. Any FREE portal system can do the same thing plus free systems give you free skins. vbportal is also a big headache to setup.

If that comment was directed towards my post, then let me clarify. DeluxePortal is its own portal and forums.

To briefly address the vBulletin issue, you are partly incorrect on that. vBulletin costs either $85 USD for a one year leased license or $160 for an owned license plus $30/year to receive updates. vBPortal is a seperate entity from vBulletin. There are many other portal systems out there that work just as well if not better. vBulletin.org is the official hacking site for vBulletin. Very few of the hacks there cost anything. You can request to have custom work done and then you might have to pay but 99.99% of all hacks located there are free. Do a search for "vBHome Lite" or "vBIndex". Those are two free portal systems.
