Thinking of getting back into scripting... Is it worth it?

Hey everyone
my name is Ilya, im 17.

when i was abotu 14, i got into scripting. i started iwth Perl/CGI, then took up php/mySQL. i had some pretty good scripts done, and made some money by installing/modifying scripts (mostly message boards, especially vBulleting and UBB) for various people. i probably made a combined of $800 or so over 2 years.

i haven't done any scripting in p[robably 2 years now. im thinking of getting bck into it, but is it really worth it? With so many awesome scripts out there, i am afraid that my work might go to waste. i mean, im not the best scripter out there. i used to be relatively good, but was all self-taught.
i wouldn't mind writing maybe a Top Sites or Poll or somethign liek that, but i really dont want to write it only to see no one use it...

any advice?

it depends on what you'd do.

there is still a good market for php scripters. definately. especially for custom scripts. you just need to find the right market. and that's something you just need to look for.

Get a portfolio, then find some clients go from there.

No money in playing around for general public to buy something off ya. Find someone who wants some work done for them, customise ya coding around them. There is more money in this area of programming, and esspecially more business.
