What software are you using to write php ?

I am currently using " syn Text Editor " to write my php code but the extent of the highlighting is to highlight the php langauge statements blue only.

I am looking for something better now as I am getting more into php and I think I would stand a better chance of finding problems if the highlighting was simular to the one used on this site; he says hopefuly !!!!

Can anyone recomend any software ?

Would be nice if it highlighted html etc. better as well.

Anthony

There have been several posts about this. Here's a few from a search.

I use ZEND (www.zend.com) for most my development. I suggest you get some trials and see which you like best.

I am using Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004, which highlights the code in different colors.

That is pretty useful.

It also uploads automatically, because it has a built-in FTP program.

Thanks for the replys;

Vim I had seen in another post a couple of days ago but can not download it; a new page opens and just keeps loading then comes up with an error - cant rember what now.

Dreamweaver I found to " complicated " when I tried a demo; I have been told that version 4 is the best as its more for people who like to have " control " or something !!!

I will have a look at those links Addict.

I am trying to learn enough now as it is hyjacked without looking at " plain ol gui-less linux ". I am knocking on a bit and when I first started I had a " Siclair spectrum " and then moved onto windows 3.1 ( thinking about it I used to us a Olivetti at work with 2 x 7" floppy drives as well ). Any attempts at Linux at that time were completly screwed as you had to set everything up " manualy " and I had no knowlege how to do it and the internet was not really accessable for help either !!!!

Anyway back to the thread - I have downloaded conTEXT and am giving it a go; I am sure when I used it before it was for html and I prefered the eversoft editor.

I have also just downloaded Vim to have a go at ( they have got their download page sorted now ) and will also download Zen tomorrow - isn't broadband great.

I do not know what I will do in August when I move to a new house that can not get broadband thanks to the theving B******d's at BT.
