Talking Best PHP tutorials

Hello fellow members,

I am an experienced HTML writer and am just learning PHP coding. All I know is the simple include script that lots of PHP based websites use. I am very interested in learning the language so I can make my own scripts. One thing I really want to do is make a Webmail script similar to Yahoo Mail. Also a Free Hosting Script and Forum script (possibly a news script. Community too? Who knows ) But ...

I have been going to PHP related sites for tutorials and most of them are a little hard to understand when they go too fast. So, I would like to know from all of these PHP scripters out there, Where is a great place to learn how to script in PHP? What I need is tutorial in which helps you UNDERSTAND ALL VARIBLES AND SCRIPTING FORMAT. Something that is easy and fun to learn. Thanks.

Try this:

http://www.w3schools.com/php/default.asp

One of the - if not "the" - easiest tute to follow that I can find. You can skip "installation" tutorials for now, though.

Many have asked the same question as yours on this forum and you can search for the term "tutorial" or something to read what others have to say.

To accomplish what you are trying to, I cannot think of a better book than this:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...32722?v=glance

It's not a small book, but it sure teaches you a lot of useful things and it's very easy to follow.

Good luck then.

Hi there,

Yes, books can be a great help. I owe my salary to some of those great books. =)

I am not sure if you'd feel comfortable reading those books online, but you can do so at http://safari.oreilly.com/ . After 14 days, you'll have to subscribe if you want to use this online library, but it is well (more than) worth the subscription fee to me.

Good luck!

Naw, I'll just get the books (first edition and second edition) at Barnes and Noble today. It's gonna be like $80 for the two of them, but I'll get them anyways (cause I know it is worth it) Thanks again blaw!

Hey thanks for the info, look into it when I need help with PHP, Photoshop, and/or Flash. Thanks.

About the tutorial, I have now purchase the book,"PHP and MySQL Web Development, Second Edition" and will start learning ... that is ... if I get a free host with PHP and lots of MySQL database (just incase). But it possibly won't be hard.

Thanks again for the suggestion blaw, for I have bought the book at Barnes and Noble Bookstore today.

PS for now, I will make scripts for free since I am only 14 (gonna be 15 in July). Later, I'll make complicated scripts for sale.
