i agree in most of what you say. i agree if you really want to program you will learn that language. though i if you know c,c++ you can do php because a pal of mine who only programmed in basic and vbasic and c++ learned php in 3 months. i know most of the web programs and basic and learn all in the same amount of time. i guess my point is that is doesnt matter what language type computer or web both are the basic format and does they same thing(make things ez for the people)but some things such as html is retardly ez and should be a language you know since its like englidh in <>

Yes and no, it depends how hard you work at learning it.

You could learn alot in one month, or learn the same ammount in one year.

It depends on the persons motivation.

OK all,

On the same subject started here,What about exploring what matters to the company who is hiring a new employee.

Does it matter to them that you only have 1 year of experince, but in that year you went in depth into many languages.
Or will they only look at how long you have been using them, regardless of how in depth you may have gotten.

Hope this makes sense,I tend to be convoluted sometimes!

You should find out how much they know, you should see how fast they learn incase they know about as much as you want them to do, but later on want to add other things..

Yes.. definitely . The more time you give to something , you will be able to make it more clear to you, and you will be experienced in that

I would say yes and no. Of course you need time to gain experience, but someone who has been programming for years who only uses programming for very small projects may be less experienced than someone who has only been programming a few months but spends countless hours learning a language and applying it to larger projects.
