Apparently some are good and some bad. Best thing is to get them at rent a coder or freelance and make sure you got some samples of their work and their customers name so you can check if they are indeed food or bad apples masquerading as brilliant apples.

Well many of the big marketers and internet entrepreneurs are using outside or from other countries to do their web development. So I would say it is a generally good idea but you really need to know them through their sample stuffs. Always ask for samples of their previous work and some recommendations from previous customers.

I've had very disappointing experiences with outsourced work from India. By the time it was all over I'd saved neither time nor money. YMMV.

It's definitely good, and most important - cheap. The programmers are all the same all over the world - but some are cheaper. If it's not good then why the biggest in business are doing this? Where is Microsoft support center Think about it.

I am not promoting anything from India but when I got some articles done and a simple header/layout change for a clients web site, I got it in decent time and i did save some money as it was cheaper.

Ok, I will give some examples. I'm from Bulgaria and here in our capital city there are hundreds of outsourcing companies, some quite huge. Like 2000 staff member HP office, IBM office and many more. Me myself was working for one of the biggest hosting companies, which had like 500 people office in Sofia.

Because it's cheap. We're exploiting you because you'll work for $5/hour where it would cost a company $50-$100/hour plus benefits to do it in the US. It's a nobrainer. Eventually, you'll want equal pay for equal work and benefits, and then you'll see the jobs disappear too. It's a vicious cycle and no one wins.

The only silver lining is that the new generation of technology enabled youth in the US is more open to international cooperation than our ancient current leaders (most over the age of 50) that we have today. I know it's stupid to ask, but instead of taking sides, we need to find ways to remove the barriers all together. Who cares what country your from. You need us as much as we need you and instead of getting upset because jobs are heaving overseas, we need to find ways to evolve together, or some of us are going to get left behind.
