I like Linux because:

Piping commands together
man pages
yum and RPMs
A command line
Log files
vi
It's free

... and I don't understand anything about PCs anymore.

I like Linux, and I like it a lot. I've been working on a Ubuntu 8.04 for a year now (yes I know, I have to upgrade), and it's going rather smooth, ignoring the minor bugs in certain applications.
I've worked with Fedora a few years ago, and I was stunned how fast it was, and how easy it was to use.

The reasons I love Linux:
1. It's 100% free
2. Need a program, find it in the softwarelist or find it on your favorite third-party site.
3. It's very lightweight (I use gnome, don't know about KDE or any other system), cause I have the features of vista, running on a 1,5GHz, 256Mb RAM pc that is 9 years old.
4. I love the command line
5. There are no viruses

Just for the record: I haven't worked that much with Mac OS, so I don't really have an opinion on that one. Most of the guys I know who work with Mac OS love it, and find it the best in the world...

Depends on what I am doing really.

For straight development I prefer to be working on a linux box but I forced to work under active directory so I just puTTy in and run around on it all day. I personally prefer developing on Linux much more then Windows I did windows developing for 2 years and Linux for 9.

At home I just run whatever version of windows is out because frankly I can do whatever I need to from it and anytime I buy a computer I don't have to do anything but turn it on.

I have heard a lot of people swear by OSX just not really my thing

Linux wins my heart. (I'm an Ubuntu 8 guy myself hah!) I became a full time Linux user when Vista was released. However, I'm still a Windows XP user about 50% of the time using video editing software or gaming.

No way would I run Vista.

I hear you on the fact that Linux is free. But is that the only reason you use Linux?

That's like saying "Corvette!? No way... My favorite car is a 1981 Chevrolet Citation.... because it's all I've driven".
