Listen closely: I'll post when I like and where I like, so don't waste your breath telling me not to unless you own this forum. Got it? I'll type slower if you want, but that's the bottom line- I don't take orders from people like you.
As for not liking Windows, that's mostly in your head. It's funny how the Windows zealots take offense at anything and everything, even things that aren't there (like my supposed "winblows" comment). Windows is an inferior platform, riddled with new and improved bugs that appear almost daily.
Open Source is slowly displacing proprietary code like Windows, and there's not a thing you can do about it. I suppose IBM just switched much of their business to Linux because it sounds cool, huh? LOL!
I hope you enjoy paying for Windows again and again and again and again. I'll be using Linux, which hasn't cost me a dime yet. PHP and mySQL haven't cost me anything either, but they've made me a ton of money.

Gotta love it. I figure LAMP has made me over $100K in the last couple of years alone, and I never spent a nickel on it.
Linux: FREE
Apache: FREE
mySQL: FREE
PHP: FREE
It's hard to beat those kinds of prices, lol. But if people out there want to flush their hard-earned bucks down the toilet on Windows and ASP, who am I to argue? As far as I'm concerned the more money they waste on Windows the better it is for me and my business.

and how often does Windows use cronjobs??? why would it.
I would actually prefer ruby, but that probably is not gonna happen.
And despite the "community" in php -- i have found that its difficult to find GOOD coders. Plenty of coders, but not many "good" ones. Im sure there are plenty who feel otherwise, but thats my opinion, please keep your flames to yourself guys.
And as someone who has been a project lead developer for 15 years, I am going to say - I will take windows any day over *nix.
This could be the very reason why MYSPACE is switching to ASP.NET and using IIS.
it sounds like your experience is all in *nix. Maybe your response would be different if you did the other technologies too, I really dont like php at all for a growing project
but again, as you say php and mysql can run on windows, but well, the fact is, your trying to convince me to change my servers to unix is evidence you would not be able to complete the task to my specifications.
If I own servers, why would i get new ones just to please a coders preference????
anyway - thanks alot for your offer, but as stated before it needs to run EFFECTIVELY on win2k3 -- anti-windows coders need not apply.
thanks for your time

Its coded in PHP which you said you didnt want.
Also as being a project developer for over 15 years, I would have thought you might have chosen something like a customised solution not just some cheap out of the box script.

It sure does, and since this is not a major project (like the last one i spent 2 years and $300,000 developing), a script is not only fine, seems pretty wise.
But you dont have to worry about what I do, now do you?

I've yet to meet one developer who wasn't bsing to jump out and talk about how much they've spent on development, especialy on their personal websites.
300,000 developing? What were you doing? Building a mini-center?
