Question unsigned band site management software

Hi, im looking for some web site management software suitable for a band web site and was wandering if you guys could point me in the right direction. I’m in an unsigned band and have been trying to overhaul the web site for ageis now. I want to make a dynamic site the hole band can update but every php management system I try seem to need a lot of code customisation to get it looking good (i.e. php-nuke). I came across one good one, Comikaze (http://www.comikaze.org/) which allows you to paste php-mysql elements in to a html site allowing me to be *** free as I want with the site design but its only suitable for a comic sites. And I need one with some band site featuras .

Unfortunately being an unsigned band we cant afford to pay for a freelancer to code it for us but if anyone knows any band software like Comikaze or any good PHP-MYsql site management software that would be suitable for a band, you help would be much appreciated.

The old site it www.risingtimes.co.uk of you interested.

You might be best to stick to one of the major CMS like Mambo, PHP-nuke, CPG Dragonfly, postnuke etc...

Because there have addons to do just about any funtion you may need already made...

If you are having a hard time with the design of these larger size CMS, like php-nuke, you should try installing auto-themes on it, this is a much simpler template system...but do still require some knowledge....

Also a plus with these larger scripts is they have a forum built in, whereas the really basic ones tend not to have this.

Hi,

I've done my mates band site, http://www.nixin.com.au

I can help you out and do it for free in exchange for a link to my site at the bottom "designed by revolution technology" and some unintrusive ads? (small text ads)

Shoot me an email, jbodlay@revolutiontech.com.au if you are interested.... I can also help out with a cleaner grungy design

Hi jordie, a bit of help would be fantastic but we cant display any ads on the site.

And thanks dave111, you may be right, I haven’t tried Mambo or CPG Dragonfly but with php nuke I began writing my own theme which looked ok but when I tried to find some good modules for just simple things like the downloads page and pitcher gallery, they wear all way to over complicated, and quite ugly.

Are the other big CMS programs easier to customize? And with the auto-themes are there any good places to get goods ones?

Thanks for replying

Before our current CMS/application framework we wrote a CMS based on the needs of independent musicians. It isn't publicly available anymore, but you can get idea of what it does/did at http://mcprecision.com and http://www.big-ang.com - we may still have the source for download on planet32.net
