looking for a banned words list

hi,

we want to incorporate a list of banned words and a list of banned sites in our programming.

The banned words would include swear words and those that we could use to search sites and metatags to id porn sites.

Can anyone help me with such listings please?

Are you looking for the coding to implement a badword list or just a looking for a premade list of suggested badwords?

If coding, are you looking to read from a file or database?

Not sure just what you're asking for. Something that would filter these items if someone submitted them to your site?

hi mdhall and jewellgr,

thanks for replies .. i lost the thread and was looking for it .. lol

We have the coding which reads from a database .. and we're trying to build the database now. So we're looking for a premade list of suggested badwords as well as domains that we ought to ban (we are interested in family-friendly websites only).

thanks for any help you can give on this,

cath

I know there are javascripts, and possibly php scripts, that you can implement into a form ( like when someone fills info into a form and submits it), that will either alert the user that a word is banned, or will automatically replace the word with another word. I would suggest doing a search for something like "javascript bad word filter", "php bad word filter", etc., or similair. Also, there are several sites which offer free scripts, such as www.hotscripts.com. I'd suggest looking there first.
