Social Networking Scripts (The Definitive List)

Hi All...

Are there any social networking scripts besides the ones listed below? (see list below)

None of these scripts really hold a candle to the more popular social networking sites out there.

Someone please post any other publishers that you know of offering these services.

SCRIPTERS TAKE HEED: You are sitting on a gold mine of new business from a script buying base that is hungry for a good product in this space. Stop with the countless message board forum, shopping cart, and personals scripts. This part of the marketplace is not saturated and is looking for a leader script maker with good customer support.

COMPETITIVE SOCIAL NETWORKING SCRIPTS:
Vastal: $399.00
http://www.vastal.com/full_desc.php?soft_id=39
Review: Clone of myspace but has some distinct flaws. Well thought out administrative panel. Has potential but too much of a clone and seems somewhat difficult to personalize.

PHPizabi: FREE
http://www.phpizabi.com
Review: New version Alicia is one to watch (unreleased at the time of this posting). Open source gives it a red flag though as most open source solutions are filled with bugs, errors, and known exploits. Not good for a for profit serious website.

Handshakes: $240.00
http://www.dzoic.com/
Review: very cumbersome and unintuitive interface

Alstrasoft eFriends: $280
http://www.alstrasoft.com/efriends.htm
Review: Promising but contains some distinc flaws. Also bad customer support and followup (see the reviews on Hotscripts)

BAC Friends: 399.00
http://buildacommunity.com/bacfriends/index.html
Review: Very flexible personalization options but needs a serious overhaul to be a strong competitor. Great customer support however.

Sparta Social Network: $225,000 (not a typo)
http://www.spartasocialnetworks.com
Review: Are they serious? Seems to only be reserved for companies with deep pockets and not the general script buying community. Has lesser pricing options for limited members and limited amount of pageviews (which is counter-productive to how social networks function)

Found another one

Snapp
http://me.com/_snapp/index.html
Price: Free
Review: Very rich feature list but its hosted solution and they want a hefty percentage of any ad revenue you generate

Would someone please make a social networking script with the best of all worlds of these scripts.

If someone could match that feature set in a stand alone script...you would get a lot of customers.

No script that ive seen has gotten it right (either buggy or underdeveloped)

This is completely wrong. It's been proven repeatedly that Open Source software has fewer bugs and exploits than closed source software. Are you actually going to try and say that Apache or Linux has more bugs and exploits than Windows does? Give me a break.

Next time try to have a clue as to what you're talking about before you spout off and make a fool of yourself, okay?

Talking

wow..didnt expect that...sorry to get your panties in a twist

FYI: I was speaking more in terms of open source scripts. In my 8 years of buying scripts and sampling with open source scripts...from what I've seen personally they shouldn't be used in commercial situations (many other commercial script buyers that I know agree....but i do agree that there are some exceptions but I wasnt talking about all situations such as server OS software and ive even seen some really nice open source shopping cart scripts). But again, this is my personal experience and professional opinion (unlike most Im not digging for gold...I actually make money on my sites and just want to make sure I purchase something stable from a reputable scripter who cares to cultivate and update their script and not create a one-off project...and a place where i can get tech support...im an entreprenuer -- not an exploit patcher who wants to monitor an open source site every other day for something new that comes up -- its just not my personal cup of tea of how i would like to spend my time).

Scripters....Im Still looking for a good social networking script....my budget is up to 2k for something really nice. If anyone creates something public -- shoot me a PM and ill be sure to check it out.

Calling folks you dont know names is not nice enduser -- wouldve loved to have an educational chat with you (always willing to learn and share opinions) but alas I see its not possible with those who speak without thinking

Chances are if I knew you I'd still call you names.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

If you wander around spreading FUD disguised as fact, expect me to call you on it. You made a ridiculously naive statement that showed a complete lack of understanding as to the nature of Open Source software. Next time perhaps you could verify your 'facts' before you soil the board with them. I have very little patience for this kind of nonsense, so please don't expect me to play along with your inept distortions.

People that were interested in my original post with finding a good social networking script.... I found one more (thanks for all of the PMs with advice of your opinions about different scripts -- and thanks to some of these programmers with PMing me as well...it was very helpful and I actually may end up going with one of the solutions above)

Dolphin script... : FREE
http://www.boonex.com

good free script but lacks a lot of community site features, its based off a AeDating Script. It's more of a dating script than a social community script.

the problem with 95% of community site scripts are the way they're developed. a programmer/coder and a potential webmaster don't share the same views. Programmers honestly do not know what an Admin of a Community site needs. They're pretty much all clone myspace style scripts or scripts that are to general. If you ever take the time to look at some of the admin areas in some of these scripts. It's a joke, thats something that can't be cloned and requires some thought and knowledge of what an admin would need for a member site.

Dolphin and Phpizabi do provide decent admin screens but lack in some areas. As for the debate about opensource... that's up in the air, it's a known fact that opensource apps are explioted more than paid scripts. As for windows it's just more popular, which is the main reason why expliots are foundm, 80% of which no nomral user will ever know of. Linux has its share of expliots but is usually patched faster.

Anyway, one day the perfect community script will be built, with solid support. It's going to take a real community site admin and a senior level php coder to work together and build a solid script. It won't be cheap to develop but usually the good scripts out there are created by friends and aren't solid to the public. one of a kind original scripts.

Red face

Does anyone know a Social Network portal which supports multi language support?

I've checked the above list, and except boonex.com none of them currently seems to support multiple languages out of the box. Some of them can be switched to another language, but thats all. What we need is multiple languages at the same time. These way the portal can be used international in different kind of languages rather than only english.

Thanks
