Creating an image gallery on the fly

Here's the situation, a client takes photo of weddings, engagements, etc... and they want to be able to upload about 200+ photos onto their website, so that their clients can browse and pick which ones they want for their wedding package. This will have to be totally managable by the client. So basically, they will upload a mass of photos using FTP, and then a script will make a thumbnail gallery of all photos. Each thumb will be a link to enlarge the photo, and have a check box next to it, so that they can selest all the ones they want, then "submit" a list to my client's email. Is this possible? Do I need to buy and install some form of software like Pixaria (but less advanced)?

If it were me I would create the thmbnails on my pc and upload the thumbnails to one folder and the full size images to another and as long as the thumbnails and full size images have the same name you can write some code to call up the full size image when the thumbnail is sellected.

There are lots of batch thumbnailer programs about for windows and it would be a lot quicker than doing it on the website.

You can dynamicaly create the thumbnails but again with 200 photos that would take a while for the page to load.
