how can call .exe(executable file) via or using php script on web server

hi friends,

i'm begginner in PHP and want to write a "helloworld.php" through this i just want to call a "helloworld.exe" which will show a html page conatining "Hello World!"

my webserver is installed with php and platform is windowsxp
server is IIS6.0

let me know if you need more detail.
