Simple but specific forum script wanted

I am looking for a simple php forum script with some quite specific requirements – have looked through loads of scripts and can’t find what I need. The script is going to be used in a company intranet for employees to post adverts, but needs to have the structure of a forum, instead of interested parties responding by e-mail. It also needs:
• simplicity! No smilies, no personal profiles and no user registration – just straightforward threaded discussion so that people can respond to specific posts.
• BUT users have to be able to edit or delete their own posts at any time after they are posted, preferabley using an e-mail address or user name plus password, chosen when they first made the post.
• to be available in German. This is quite important, but if the script is easy to translate I’m still interested.
Thanx in advance to anyone who helps...

I don't know anything like this... but I'm sure if you have a bit of budget you'll find someone willing to program a small custom forum for you. it isn't such a big thing you want, judging by the description you gave.

Thanks, but that's not really the idea - I've been asked to find this script for work.

yes I understand. I was just mentioning it as a possible solution. companies are usually used to spending money for software, hence my remark about having a custom forum script made.

I think you can find this in YaBB forums , all you need is a mod to disable smilies ..
check http://www.yabbforum.com for perl version and http://www.yabbse.org for php/mysql version ..

live example : http://newsphp.sourceforge.net/forums/index.php

Smile

Thanks! Thats something like it - I had come across the YaBB wbsite, but couldn't find a demo or anything - it could be me, but there wasn't enough information that I could find for it to be worth recommending. The live example's handy, tho. Do you know of anything similar in German? Or am I being thick and not realising that this one is available in German?

both have German language files
just check the download pages in their sites ..
but sadly for the php/mysql version there is only a german package for an old release (1.3.0) while current version is 1.5.4 and they are about to release the next release with advnaced features ..

Seems like everything wanted is found in just 1 program, named Sharepoint Services v2 from Microsoft to run on a .Net 2003 Server.
I was one of the beta testers of this product and i am sure that i would make u as happy as it did to me.
The sharepoint services work on the user level of your 2000 or 2003 server, also supporting your exchange server to send mails from the forms on the services, if u have an exchange offcourse.
U have a main forum and u're able to have sub forums also, for example for technical departement, administration etc...
the clients just need to surf to the name of the computer where it is installed on
e.g. http://intranet
the most usefull part of this tool is that u don't need to log in at all, because it uses the useraccount where the user is logged in with on your domain controller, unless u run a leaf server...
then u will have also another link to go to.
e.g. http://intranet.domain.local
then u will have to log in, stating username, password and domain, this is done because u will be able to add users only on the leaf server and vice versa.
Further is it possible if u have a fixed ip to enter the intranet, if configured to be able to go external from a computer at another place.
So your boss might post that he will be back a day sooner from his holiday, and you'll know it!

I hope that this info is usefull enough for u.
The last i give u is the link to the official website of this product, so u can have some more information about it.
