Helpdesk Notifier

Basically I work on an IT helpdesk, and when soemthing kicks off I need to be able to notify the entire desk.

E-mail doesn't work as when it gets very busy nobody has time to read the mails.

I have used an app in the past that a friend made, that basically worked by monitoring a txt file, when that file was updated and saved, it would pop up a small notification on the users screen.

The app was tiny and sat on the taskbar, but I liked it because it would popup and tell everyone the deal.

Problem is we no longer have the source code, and my friend has since moved on.

Can anyone advise me of any packages that already exist? Or is there a programmer that can help?

Cheers

Steve

It was visual basic that the original was written in. Anything that can be run on a Windows xp build will do the job.

As it happens, couldn't do very much.

I'm on a work PC and having problems installing/using certain applications. If anyone is game to help, I may be able to see about chucking a few bucks your way for your trouble.

No worries.

PM me your email address, it's a tiny app and easily e-mail safe. all I need to do is change the file path thats hardcoded into the application.
