I am looking for a product catalog CMS.

I use CMS(s) often but rarely build an entire site with them. Rather I build a site I like with the pages I like and then use the CMS for the aspect I need it for (blog section, store section, etc.) (Side question, is that a backwards way of building a site?).

I am now building a site that will have an extensive product catalog and I want a CMS. These products are very specific and will have many specs so the CMS must be able to handle customized specification fields for the products. SEO friendly URLS is also a must. Does anyone have any suggestions.

I have used X-Cart for ecommerce solutions before. It is a product catalog + ecommerce. This project will not include ecommerce but if the best product catalog CMS is an ecommerce program I will use it and just disable all the ecommerce functionality (but it would be nice if disabling that was easy to do ).

Have you looked at OS Commerce and it's many add-ons?

Thank you for the suggestion. I have not looked at OS Commerce lately. With this project nothing is going to be sold (e-commerce) or even priced. Do you think those type of options (shopping cart, buying, pricing, etc.) would be easy to disable in OS Commerce?
