Automatic group membership sign up

Hi
i hope someone can help me.
I need a membership script with i differnce.

I want it so that only a few people can sighn up. Basically i want there to be about 7 groups. There will be a differnt password/username for every group wich is required to sign up. So depending on what username and passoword you supply at the beggining of the registration depends on what group you will join.
I also need to be able to give each group personallised content.
sorry if this isont clear enough

Cheers
Chris
p.s. Before you ask i will be supplying these passwords for the registration to groups of people.

Here is the part that is unclear and can mean the difference between a fairly simple job and a very big job:

"be able to give each group personallised content"

What type of content do you want these groups/members to have? If you mean a single, fairly static html page then this is simple. If you mean articles, news, polls, calendar or anything like that then you are talking about a Content Management System (CMS).

If that is the case then there are a ton of great CMS packages out there. You can create the user names and passwords ahead of time in the administration interface and forward that information off to your selected users. That gives you very fine grained control of who signs up.

Also, most CMS engines and the smaller packages allow content to be tailored to groups. As many as you want to create content for. Most are also pretty easy to install and use without a lot of technical knowledge. There are many hosting accounts that utilize Fantastico installer that will normally have the CMS engines PHP-NUKE, Post-Nuke, and Xoops (pronounced zoops) available. The installs are as simple as a click and assigning an admin user name and password and the name of the directory you want it installed in.

Post some more detail

info

Hi
Basically i want it to be quite simple and esy to install. i want it to be able to display just 1 page were it will have differnt links for the differnt groups. It is only for 1 part of the site because the rest of it is unrestricted.

The real life synario is that it is going to be used on a website for the scouts gangshow. The scouts as you may know are split up into differnt troops such as the malliery troop, oak pack ect. Basically each of these troops are going to be given a differnt script for there scene.

I want to be able to give each of these troops a password to sign up to a group on my site so they can only download the script's that there troop needs.
The only two things on that page will be script downloads and a few links.

It has also got to be able to fit in an iframe or at least easly custermizable so i can make it fit into an iframe.

Hope thats made it clearer and not worse
Cheers
Chris
