My company is looking for a solution similar to the following:

...only it must be written in PHP, and I'm having quite a time finding a good one. We're looking into a pre-written solution as it might be much more cost-effective to modify an available script than to write our own from scratch.

The best available alternative I've come across is the "PHP Font Image Generator 2" on this site:

I've searched HotScripts, as well as other code repositories, up and down... and that is the best I could find. We may end up using that, but if anyone knows of another that's better, please share.

The desirable program must also be available for download, something we are able to modify on a per-site basis.

Commercial or open-source, doesn't matter.
