I am new to this and trying to set up a section on my website to maintain a family history surname list in tabular form with maybe 6/7 columns. Once setup I want visitors to be able to add the names they are researching which will then update the database.

I did look under genealogy but there was nothing suitable.

You could convert just about any script ever made that interacts with a database to do this, it's all data in/data out, but you'd still need to know a few basics about programming and databases.
