Another shopping cart thread

Ok, big newbie here. Not even sure this is the right forum for this...

I'm trying to find an extremely easy shopping cart module/software and easy to set up. Not too concerned about money, just as long as it is easy to implement, but works nicely as well. I'm very new at this and my company has a tight deadline. After doing some research I just can't make up my mind on what would be the most effiecent.
Need to find something that will be able to use PayPal as a supported gateway.

My server is running Fedora linux, Apache, MySQL, and I think we are looking for something PHP.

I've looked at osCommerce, FishCart, X-cart, and a few other suggested ones. Thing is I can't find much info on how hard it is to implement this carts.

Thanks in advance for any tips or comments.

Daniel...

If you are willing to pay for a project such as this, please drop me an email so we can further discuss payment and project details. I am a skilled PHP/MySQL programmer and can make you an easy to install and use shopping cart system.

I can help you as well. A shopping cart software manual may help you get started.

I've evaluated over a hundred shopping carts on the web. Most of them, including the shareware payware ones are junk. They're either incomplete, or expect you to do a level of programming for the config files that is more than most of us are willing to put in.

Far and away the best cart I've found is Fishcart. It's free, but they accept donations. It is easy to install with their little java thingamabobber (I believe that is the technical term), and it has more features than most everything else out there. It's good stuff.

x-cart has the admin features most of my clients need

x-cart allows for easy admin re. sales etc... most people don't realize the free carts limitations until they start using them and then you may not realize your spending hours on things that you don't need to.

I also researched many carts -- sent out RFI's and found x-cart to have the most advanced features for the price. The template system takes a little getting use to but once figured out it is fairly easy for a designer/developer or adept store owner.

Good luck with your project.

I agree 100%. It's a common mistake to start off with a small app and then plow days weeks into it trying to get it to do what you want. X-Cart is extremely good in my opinion, and although with its power comes some complexity, it's still one of the very best and easiest carts I've ever installed (out of about 50 or so).
