want to learn Visual Basic
Hey guys,
I took a Visual Basic 4 class back in my first year of college, but I have not used Visual Basic since then, and I forget most of it now, so I was just wondering if there was a good tutorial, or book, out there on learning Visual Basic? I haven't decided yet rather I want to get into the whole ".NET" thing or not, so far it doesn't look very appealing to me...
I know QuickBasic 4.5 for DOS like the back of my hand, but even when I took that VB 4 class, I never could get the hang of Visual Basic really, how it separates subs instead of listing everything together like the old DOS programs used to, so I'm having a hard time getting aquanted with windows programming in general.. having the same problem with this C++ C# stuff, I was once a Borland C programmer back in college, mostly ANSI C, and Assembler (MASM 5 back in those days), but I can't seem to get the hang of windows programming at all other then web design. Its almost like, the more "graphical" things get, the harder time I have with it.. which probably explains why I caught on to QB 4.5 and Assembler so well back in college.
thanks

Do you have VB6? If not do a search of eBay thats the cheapest place you'll find it, make sure you get the MSDN help discs as well. While you're on eBay search of other VB material, there are usually plenty of books and CD's.

VB lists all subs, functions and control events all together. Qbasic doesn't actually, you have to select the sub or function you want to see.
There are plenty of VB sites out there but one of the best is
http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb...t.asp?lngWId=1
There are 4,600,257 VB apps to search and look at.

thanks, I'll have to get it somewhere else, because I don't trust ebay no more, not after having the seller put the item right back up for action, after sending the seller the money for the item... I've had that happen to me 3 times, and that was enough to say "no thanks" to ebay ever again Same with Amazon, had the same experiences with them as well.....and do they refund your money to you? HECK NO!! so forget that, hehe
I do have Visual Studio 2005 though, I just don't know how to use it and no I didn't download it illegally, well not exactally, I was given Visual Studio 2005 by a client who wanted me to do a project for his company, he was going to pay me $1,000 for the project, but since I didn't understand Visual Studio, he ended up not paying me for my time, but I got Visual Studio 2005 out of the deal, he was an MSDN member.....I tried to learn it, it just didn't make any sense to me. THe disk he gave me has both VB.net and VB6 on it I believe, but you have to install the whole 2005 package to get it, it was an october 2005 edition MSDN disc I believe, I still have it around here someplace.

Sorry you feel so bad about eBay, as I say thats the cheapest place to get it. I'm sure you can report sellers on eBay if things go wrong. As for Amazon I bought my VB6 Pro of Amazon 3 years ago, £200.
@GO4TF4CE - I've already posted that link.
