What is the difference between Visual Basic 2008 and VB6?

I have used Visual Basic with the Visual Studio and .Net framework. We just did desktop applications at school and did not do any internet related application. What is the difference then between Visual Basic 2008 and VB6? If I want to learn web applications, what else do I have to learn to do that, since I know already a lot of VB 2008??
