I wonder if anyone's got any clue as to whats going on with my vb app.

I wrote something you all would probably find very simple (well it took me a while to do) its a menu screen for a cd that runs off autoplay. The menu is 8 different forms which have an average of 4 buttons on each form that when clicked take you to an existing word or powerpoint document. I use the word.application thingy to open the word docs and powerpoint.application to do the same for the ppt docs. I also use the app.path to basically make sure that it knows where the documents are. I burn the whole thing to cd on the root and it works great. The menu pops up on the autostart when the cd is put in so the user doesnt do nothing but sit back and click the desired menu screen then selects a document to load. The cd kicks in and word or powerpoint is loaded with no errors.

I take the same cd to my m8's and put it into the drive. He is running win2000 the program loads and he goes through the menus until he see's a document that he wants to open. Selecting it opens the required program and bang! an error appears on the screen saying it can't find the document.

I did think this maybe (longshot) had something to do with having vb installed on my pc but testing it on another xp machine it worked. I managed to find another machine with 2000 on to make sure it wasnt just an issue with his pc but it resulted in the same thing.


is there anything I can do about getting the compatibility of the program for windows 98 and up. Its for a my m8's work for many of the departments there.
so theres no clear definition of which windows it will be running on.

maybe there's settings I need to change before converting it to an exe.
