Trophee Google's site speed ranking has major effect on web design, says Idea Taxi

Hello Friends,

Google's recent decision to start factoring site speed into its search results will deeply affect the way web developers work, Sam Tilston, search engine optimisation (SEO) director for Idea Taxi, has said.

"This is a huge move and has major implications in terms of [web] design and coding," he said.

According to Mr Tilston, website owners should be careful about the amount of graphics that are loaded on the page and avoid technologies such as flash.

Mr Tilston added that site owners should now take into consideration a wide array of factors, "from ensuring they have enough capacity to handle traffic spikes, clean design, compressed graphics, optimised scripts and others so as to not endure the wrath of a Google penalty resulting from a slow site".

Google, which announced the move on its webmaster central blog, said the change to site speed measurement affects around one per cent of indexed sites.

Thank you...

Ya..its true that now Google will give importance to the sites with good page speed as this is for the sake of users. many times users open the site and if the site takes the time in opening they close the site and move further. If Google will rank the site with bad page speed it will give bad impression not only about the site but about Google as well. So its a big factor in improving the site's rank in SERP results of search engine.

Google has its own arithemetic method to rank a website.
Maybe the loading speed takes a part in it.

I agree about your above statement Lucky Sophie. It is better if I work on my site now to increase its page rank and generate traffic.

This has been around as long as I can remember but certainly the standard I use.

I wouldn't say though that you need to behave according to Google. It's our web and you do whatever you want, gaming Google is only a small part. A majority of my traffic comes from referral sites as well as search engine so honestly give this only a fraction of thought.
