Which - The Uniform Server or Apache Friends XAMPP ?

(My system: Windows 98SE)

Hi,
I'm new to all this, and want to get set-up for PHP development ASAP and as easy as poss, so...

I'm considering installing everything as a 'package'
and I would be grateful for some advice...

There are 2 packages that seem to be popular (at hotscripts.com)

The Uniform Server, and
Apache Friends XAMPP

Which should I choose ?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

http://www.devside.net

Complete AMP package. (Apache 2, Mysql 1.x, PHP 4.3.8)

It even comes with phpMyAdmin

You'll find this much easier to install.

Be sure to download the self-installer:

Your friend is intelligent. WAMP is an excellent program.

Though i am the Project Manager for Uniform Server, i would like to just give the advice you need, but you dont have to take it from me

Uniform Server is faster to download and install than XAMPP. For Uniform Server all you have to do it unextract and run Start.bat and you are done. The download size is also smaller than 5MB, XAMPP is about 20MB and after that, the uncompressing can take a while and then you have to set it up.

XAMPP cannot be moved around after installation. You will have to reset it up using that Setup file, but for Uniform Server you can move it around anywhere. You can even run it from your Camera's USB stick!

There are other things i can give you but dont have time now, its best you check it out yourself.

Thanks and Good Luck
