as far as I know, there are no ip addresses starting with a 0. Try changing it to 127.0.0.1 (localhost), and see what happens.

dyfa,

this usually happens when something is already listening to the socket (IIS?)
thy to stop IIS or use Listen directive in the apache's config to bind apache to another port, something like 8080

I get a different error when using 8080:
Quote:
<OS 10048>Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network addres/port) is normally permitted. : make_sock: could not bind to address 127.0.0.1:8080 no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs
Nothing else is running and using port 80 as far as I can tell.

I got it to run after some messing around, but I can't get it to connect when I search for it.

I searched for another port i could use for http and found 8008. changed it to that, and got no errors, but i still can't type it in the browser and get the "It Works!" page i'm suppose to get

I was having the same problem. I disabled IIS in services, but it was still listening to port 80. Then, I started IIS manager in the connections part and clicked in the server and clicked "stop" at the Actions part.
