Apache server started - localhost not working

Hi,

Have issues with Apache server...
Installed Apache httpd 2.2.17 version using msi file on Windows 7 - worked successfully. On installation of PHP 5.3.5 using msi file, was not able to access localhost

- errors in server start - apache start gave - "Starting the Apache2.2 service
(OS 5)Access is denied. : Apache2.2: Failed to open the service." error. Run as adminstrator for Apache start - gives - "Starting the Apache2.2 service
The Apache2.2 service is running.
] Apache/2.2.17 (Win32) PHP/5.3.5 configured -- resuming normal operations

But, in IE, http://localhost does not work... Have changed/uncommented localhost 127.0.0.1 in hosts file in etc folder.. checked with http://localhost:85 also.. With

no use.. Can you please tell what could have gone wrong?

I suggest you install a package like XAMPP, which comes with everything you need. Apache, PHP, MySQL, PHPMyAdmin, etc...
