i needed a webserver+applicationserv er+etc setup (just for testing, before uploading) on my win98se machine. I had problems with other setups since they were designed for nt based system (and mine is a 9x based one). I read the reviews here and so I chose this... Amazing, it was fully functional within a few mins. No more errors, manual configs watsoever. The 10+mb dl was worth it. And , oh yeah, choose this if ur new to the whole apache+php+mysql setup and dont wanna configure httpd docs and etc.

first i would like to say that i found it extremely hard to configure this because it does not use a standard directory layout and things are really mixed toghether Then i would like to atract attention that the automatization/configuartion scripts actually render phpdev unconfigurable manually instead of helping with it

I needed to install a web server, PHP, and MySQL on XP so that I could begin to develop a web site without having to ftp the files to my hosting service to see if they worked. In the process I am learning both PHP and MySQL (though an experienced programmer). The learning curve was steep enough without having to configure all of these packages. I try to install other similar packages and never find something easier that this. I can set it up in 5 mins without going through the manual.

I installed this package on Windows XP and everything works great. I tried a couple of the other packages and none were as easy to setup as phpdev. Also, the easy access of the manuals make it all the more the best package that I've tinkered with. Oh, and I consider myself a novice. So if you're new to all of this I'd pick phpdev.

This is a great package for installing php on your machine. No need to do anything other then just extract the files to where they want to go. Once downloaded you could have this up and running in mins if that! A great tool indeed. Thanks

phpdev was easy to install, even on xp, and it all worked first go around. I previously was using phptriad and had to tweak little things to get it up and running correctly. No configuration required is a true statement.

This download takes a while if you're on 56k, but it's worth it. I've tried to get php/mysql & cgi to work on my server, but it didn't work, until i got this package. It is VERY VERY simple to install, just extract the zip to your C: and that's it. I highly reccommend it! thanks phpdev!!

I have been trying to find an installation kit for my win98 laptop, I tried some of the others, with some degree of difficulty getting them to work but eventually I was able. With phpdev3, It worked right out of the box. I didn't have to configure anything or move .dll files. An excellent choice for an installation kit.
