So last year 2008 when I started I trawled through doing my research on MANY E-commerce solutions all promising that they offer the best solution. So I went about setting up my localhost using wamp.
First I decided to look at features and what the cart was capable of regardless of what had to be done.
I also wanted ease of use and a cart that I could use for many years to come without having to change to a "superior" software in the future.

So products that made my shortlist
Oscommerce
Zencart / Creloaded.
Clickcart Pro
Cscart
Product Cart
Cubecart

What I've found that Jshop does better for me than all of these is the template system which has template conditionals and has the best price to feature ratio. I was able to set Jshop up quickly while getting the look and feel I desired to represent my business While leaving me to more important things like promoting my business.

The main thing I noted was that the initial investment guaranteed me free updates forever. Making it the most cost effective solution as I only ever pay if I need support.

Key features for me are.
*No need to ever edit php files as the code is seperate to the html so I can create any look and feel I desire.
*Stock management
*Discount features
*Wishlist
*Easily Custamisable
*Orders can be edited
*Range of offline order processing options
*Fully SEO friendly with xhtml no tables design and <h1> tags out of the box
*Allows for seperate account prices for trade and normal customers
*Unique to Jshop product flags. This wasn't important to me at first but it is something that I simply can't do without anymore.
*Can Manually create orders and accounts for telephone ordering.
*Supports Html emails so you can create the professional image when sending out orders.
*Based in the UK so I don't have to change all the currency settings when I set up Jshop
*Supports multiple currencies which will allow expansion when the business grows.

Jshop has a many more features however these are the ones that mattered to me most.
Most Notably it doesn't just have these features they are there in an easy to use manner.
From my experience there is nothing that Jshop can't do that would be required to make a your business successful online which is what I care about most.
To me Jshop is to Ecommerce software that vbulletin is to Community scripts.

Since upgrading to JSHOP Server in May 2003 we have seen a marked improvement with our site, we now have the functionality of the "Big" sites for a fraction of the cost. The site is much easier to manage now, and has reduced our overall site maintenance by around 50% Most impressive of all is our search engine rankings, especially in Google. For most products that we sell we are now top page, or very close after. JSHOP server seems to take search engines bots by the hand and guide them around!!!

Look, this is how it is. This software is fantastic, the support is top class and I would highly recommend this product to anyone thinking of using a shopping cart system on their website.
