Wrong statistics

Reviewed by on Jul 18th, 2010I am using OpenX for about 2 years on a site with 350.000 visits each month. Advantages: The administration-interface and the architecture of OpenX is EXTREMELY usable, esp. since v 2.8. The whole administration is logic, easy and useful. OpenX performs very good. Disadvantages: - Updating often leads to some serious errors, which i could only handle with help of my hoster. The forum-support is very poor. - The OpenX-crew is interested to sell their own ads (OpenX-Marketplace), not to distribute and develop a piece of good software. - The worst: The Click-statistics are totally wrong. Example: OpenX showed me 800 clicks from 100.000 Ad-Impressions. Manually checking the Logfiles I found only about 110 clicks on the banner (I always use static routing-pages); the advertiser's tracking-system found the same number. Especially the last point is the knock-out-criterium for OpenX in my opinion. A lot of people seem to have this problems; I assume that most of the people that use OpenX just don't recognize how bad the statistics are, because they do no other checks.
Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Lots of work has gone in to the latest version of OpenX. There is a new look and feel to the screens, which make it easier to navigate your way around. Also, for large websites, there are more logging features which make OpenX scale with your business. For those who want to customize OpenX, the new plugin framework will surely be a popular feature. Check it out! (disclosure - I am an OpenX'er)

Install is easy. The interface is great. BUT the statistics are plain WRONG. Ads views are off by 80% when compared to server logs and previous ad serving software. Do yourself a favor and check their "Statistics and Reports" Support Forum. This problem exists for many users with no apparent resolution. OpenAds has been a HUGE disappointment.

You could spend thousands to get a program like this, I still cannot believe they are giving it for free, Easy to use, great design, and its not missing anything! Highly Recommended By me.. I use it, and love it... Nice interface, easy to use.. Statics and can handle all kinds of stuff.... After you have figured this one out, You will simple love it.. Cause its advanced functionality and still its simplicity. Download it :)
