You're using a freebie forum. Most of these kind of hosts disallow backus in the hope you'll use a paid plan with backups. As for upgrading, since you can't actually touch any of the files, you should alert your host to the fact they're out of date

PHP-NUKE is a nut shell. Well PHP-NUKE is a great system and the first of it's kind. While I think its the best content managment system out there are other more personalized managment systems to suit different needs now. So when you go with a huge and bulky system like PHP-NUKE it tends to drag server performance and is very slow on load times. All in all PHP-NUKE is great software, but trying new systems shouldn't end here.

I'm a webmaster using PHP-Nuke since version 6.0 and for my needs this is the best CMS i ever had, and i mean it. Easy to install, easy administration, Add-ons, Themes, Hacks and Fixes with a growing PHP-Nuke community worldwide to help you out. I like too the Multilingual feature because i'm a spanish language guy. Also i think beeing a webmaster it's easier now than before php-nuke, simplyfing most work and saving a lot of time, thanks Francisco and keep it up. ;)

PHP-Nuke has to be the most efficient CMS / Web Portal system I have ever seen, point systems, members, admins, news, downloads, links, content pages, easy to edit, it truly is a brilliant script. Although it dosn't have a demo at PHP-Nuke.org (official website) it is a GREAT poral system and anyone considering starting a website should seriously consider using it.

Although I'm not a complete nono when it comes to Windows servers I could not get this installed .. I've got the latest PHP and MySql, but I keep seeing numerless error mesages like " Constant _YOUHAVE already defined " and " Undefined variable: PHP_SELF ". I'll take the easy way out and try something else ..

I used PHP-Nuke for about 4 Months on the first installation of my website http://www.FreeloaderStudios.com, I noticed that quite often the site would either load incredibly slow, or the server would be down. This prompted me to move my website to another hosting company, which REFUSED to place PHP-Nuke on their servers. They even went as far to say that it did nothing but cause problems for them. They recommended that I use Postnuke instead (located freely at http://www.PostNuke.com). Postnuke was almost identical to PHP-Nuke, but there was no server problems whatsoever. I highly recommend that if you wish to start an online community with a CMS (Content Management System), that you consider Postnuke instead. Take care, Peter Schmalfeldt St. Louis, MO

It seemed for a time that making web sites "one page at a time" was considered adequate, but content management systems have raised the bar way beyond that. PHP Nuke raises the bar even higher by providing a rhobust and modularized system of creating web sites that are very flexible. PHP Nuke is the most widely used open source CMS today with new refinements, modules, hacks and themes appearing daily. As I placed my bets on PHP years ago, I'm betting on PHP Nuke now too.

I've been using Nuke for a long time now. i've watched it grow from a blog system to a full blown content management system. this is one of the premier applications/systems in the opensource community today and has been for quite some time. i have been using Nuke since version 3 and i have never found any other system that has the same practical utility and myriad features available in this system. it has had it's share of problems as with ALL other systems. but the people behind this are very good programmers and have support from Mandrake Linux so this system will be here for a while. and i for one am happy about that!! keep it up Francisco!

I downloaded it, followed the easy install guide, and in less than 5 minutes was up and running. I've never seen a script that claimed to do something like this ever live up to it like PHP-Nuke. It's really an insult to call this a script it's like a web portal application really. If you are new to the whole PHP and MySQL stuff don't be afraid. It took me a few days to get the hang of how they work together but it is well worth it! Thank You!

FB has really out done himself w/ v.5.3 which is much more stable. If he can issue some added security for the SQL then we are set to go. But really this is an amazing script. Even after KR left the team, PHP Nuke is still an amazing HUB of resources. Over 150 themes to choose from, countless add ons, and not to mention the most amazing feature: Multiple SQL databases on one server. Installation is a bit of a hastle, but once you do it a couple of times it runs like water. Excellent product. I would easily pay between $100-$200 if it wasn't free. - GrCypriot Design Studios

This Content Management package is great. It is fairly easy to set up and very extensible. Hopefully its developers will work on better documenting it though. I even plan on integrating it into my site.

Doesn't quite cut the cake for me I'm afraid. Too slow, my system resources suffered more than I'd like them to.

A few days ago I downloaded PHP-Nuke, and to my surprise, I had it set up on the web server in a few minutes. The documentation was easy to read and understand, and the configuration of PHP-Nuke was very simple. I have found that PHP-Nuke is also very flexible when it comes to the site configuration. Also, since it uses the MySQL database, it is very quick.

topic says all.

Well, I short brief: If you're looking for a portal system and you're a newbie, then this is the result of many hard hours of working :) So, what can I say, from a scale 1-5, a hard powered 5.

Well, I am not an expert or a complete newbie to php/mysql, and found php-nuke easy to set up and easy to customize for my own needs. It was one of the most well-featured packages I came across with news, links, user manager, polls, forums to name a few. I wish it was a bit more modular, but as long as you don't want to tear apart each and every code of it, you will be happy with most parts.

End user: If you're looking for a feature-loaded CMS-type of thing, PHP-Nuke might be the answer. There might be too much features, since the KISS ("Keep it simple, stupid") principle doesn't really apply here. Coder: If you're looking for clean and structured code, better go somewhere else. The source code is a mess and you're probably getting a headache from staring at it too long. Plus it's kinda buggy.

This was very easy to setup.. I was able to get up and working within 15 minutes. Within 25 minutes of starting the installation, I was able to start customizing my portal..thanks PHP-Nuke!! Warlock

Yeah it works great. Even if you don't know the first thing about how to Program in PHP, it gives great instructions on how to set it up. It works great, and 5.0 will be even better.

The latest release (v4.4) has fallen very short of a clean and stable version. The developers have even indicated the lack of stability in this product as well as the numerous bugs that still exist! This latest release should have concentrated on cleaning up the bugs and HTML problems that have constantly plagued this script rather than adding more functionality.

I have tried many differant portal software packages and have not found one as easy to setup and manage as PHP-Nuke. If you have come this far and do not download it you are nuts. Hopefully future releases will include forums and chats.

I have looked at Egrail, Metadot, PhP Geek, Slashdot, and Back-End! PHP-Nuke, in my oppion, truely deserves the #1 rating. If you're a startup dot com, or are trying to put together a feature rich website on a tight buget and don't have a ton of money to pay some design team - THIS IS THE SCRIPT FOR YOU! Unlike the competion, an idiot (like me) can have a polished, professional, feature packed website up and RUNNING in any webhosting enviromet in less than an hour from start to finish. If you have DSL make it 20 min. tops :) If you'd like to see what this puppy can do I invite you to visit my site at http://www.bodyrockers.com. PHP Nuke makes me feel like a PHP God (and I didn't have to do much of anything).

I should say that PHP Nuke was the best portal script ever made. I have been using it since it first released and I should say it evolve very fast, unlike other scripts. SlashCode, PHPSlash and Geeklog doesn't even come close. Since I'm also a developer I made full changes to the scripts and its wonderfull. Version 4.0 is now around the corner, I should say it will rock even harder. For a newbies PHPNuke is easy to install. The performance is FAST! So if you what are you waiting for, download them today!

This program out of the box is amazing. Out of the Box you can make your own Web page in minutes. This package of scripts cannot be beat by anything out there right now. The guy who is making this is the nicest guy out there and is working on it all the time to make it a better application. I wish i could go ahead in time to get the future versions myself. Out of the box it is a great program, but with some modifications it is even better. Check out this program now.

I must say this is the best script I have ever seen in all languages I have ever seen. This is some thing developers will charge thousands of dollars to develop !
