Greetings, all!
After three weeks in public beta, Hot Scripts was officially launched earlier this month. We have received tremendous feedback over the past few weeks from which we further tweaked and enhanced several features of the site. Some of the notable changes include the introduction of an advanced search system, a better sorting and filtering of search results. For a list of complete update, visit our
Twitter account. Besides ongoing tweaks
and enhancements, in the coming months we
also have a line-up of several new features
that we will roll out.
The new Hot Scripts marks an exciting
milestone in the site's history – over 10
years have passed since launching the
original site. Hot Scripts has entered its
eleventh year servicing the web development
community with the largest and
highest-quality Web resource directory of
its kind.
Thank you again for your feedback and please
continue to
express your thoughts and ideas to
ensure that Hot Scripts remains the largest
and highest-quality web resources directory
for another ten years!
Remember to follow us on
Twitter to receive updates, feature
releases and ongoing announcements from the
Hot Scripts Team!

Accessibility on the World Wide Web |
Web accesssibility is all about
allowing people with disabilities to
use the Web. It is a highly
debatable topic which often quickly
gets off track since opinions vary
dramatically in this subject area.
There have in the past been too many
myths and straw man arguments
against accessibility making it like
nailing jelly to a wall. Web
developers fail to understand that
designing an accessible site or
application should be part of the
normal web development process. It
not only helps you target those with
disabilities but brings a lot of
benefits to those without
disabilities as well. Below are
links to articles, tools and sites

Jaiku Goes Open Source |
Micro-blogging is a concept of blogging
which allows users to publish short text
updates usually limited to one or two
sentences.
Twitter is a popular example of
micro-blogging. If you want to roll out your
own micro-blogging platform and allow others
to join your site and start micro-blogging,
then Jaiku
is for you. Jaiku, which was once a Google's
acquisition and Twitter's closest competitor
is no longer in development but its
source code has been released. Based on
Google App Engine, anyone can set up their
own version of Jaiku. It will be interesting
to see how users makes use of Jaiku to
create niche-based micro-blogging sites.

Xenocode Browser Sandbox |
To test your site in different browsers,
you can use services that offers browser
screenshots tools or install multiple
versions of browsers on your machine. These
two methods makes debugging tricky though.
The
Xenocode Browser Sandbox takes a
different approach. It allows all popular
Windows browsers to be run simultaneously,
directly from the web. Web designers, system
administrators, and other users can now
evaluate Internet Explorer 8, 7, and 6,
Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera, and
Google Chrome directly from the web in a
risk-free manner.
Unlike traditional software applications,
Xenocode WebApps do not require any software
to be installed and allow multiple
application versions to run side-by-side on
any version of Windows.
