| Description: |
Have you searched around the net for a script that would take backup of certain directoies on your server, and feel that setting up certificates/keys on all servers is complicated? Maybe you have wanted to do a simple file transfer through SSH, but you need to type a password for each server, so you can't run it on a schedule or cron job. This was my reason for diving into the problem and make a solution that simplifies setting up a backup.
This perl script takes backup from multiple servers through SCP/SSH into your backup server. On the servers you want to backup, you only need to create a backup user. You do not need to install any certificates and the normal key exchange process. The script uses Expect to pass on the password and automatically log into the server you want to backup. Very simple.
